Some Inspiration at the End of Your Weekend
Hey, we know your Sunday is valuable time. You could be hanging out at the lake, devouring brunch at Trudy’s, or (perish the thought) catching up on laundry. Gateway intends to provide an experience that connects you to God in a meaningful way and inspires you to take a spiritual step forward. We accomplish that through great live music, art and other media that communicate a message, and a teaching from the Bible that is relevant to your life.
Here are Do’s and Don’ts of our Sunday service:
- DO participate as much as you want to – Sit if you want. Sing if you want. Engage at whatever level you are comfortable.
- DO come prepared to grow. No matter where you are at on your spiritual journey – new to faith, returning after a long hiatus, or mature Christ-follower – the service will inspire you go deeper.
- DON’T feel any obligation to give financially. If you are just checking Gateway out, the service is our gift to you.
- DON’T keep your questions to yourself. Ask someone with a name badge on or email us whenever.
We Won’t Make You Wear the Scarlet “V”
Visiting a church for the first time can be a daunting experience. You can’t help but ask yourself questions like:
- What will the church service be like?
- Will the people be friendly . . . or too friendly? Yikes.
- Are they going to pump me for money?
- What am I supposed to wear?
- Do I have to pretend to be something I’m not?
Our Sunday morning experience is designed to be a non-threatening place for new people to explore Gateway, figure out faith, and take a next step spiritually. No one will check your spiritual credentials at the door. You don’t have wear the Scarlet “V” (for “visitor”). No purple Kool-Aid will be served.
One Church, two Locations
We desire to be one church in multiple locations. We are committed to One Vision, One Set of Values, One Staff, One Central Leadership Team, One Financial Oversight and One Teaching Strategy over multiple campuses expressed in multiple ways. Church was always intended to be more than just a building where people meet on Sundays-- it's about Christ followers living faith out in community with those around them. The use of video allows us to connect McNeil and South campus with a common teaching element, and we are dedicated to meeting the spiritual and physical needs of people right here in Austin no matter which campus you attend.
Getting Around without Getting Lost
McNeil Campus - It’s not your typical church layout. Our McNeil Campus looks and feels like Austin – open, non-pretentious, and a bit funky. You can pick from a few destinations once you arrive:
- The Garage – Grab some complimentary coffee. There’s no shame in requiring a little caffeine infusion on a Sunday. Plus, you are permitted to tote (and spill) your beverage anywhere on campus.
- KidsQuest – If you have kids, check them in at the KidsQuest front desk. Actually, it’s not really a desk, but more of an adventure ship. The building feels like a cross between a Disney studio and a high-tech school. Your kids will love it. And you can rest easy because we take security seriously.
- The Auditorium – The big building with sounds of great live music pouring out of it is the where our Sunday service takes place. On your way in, grab a program from one of the greeters. It will tell you what kind of music, art, and message to expect in the service. You can also find more info about Gateway, plus next step opportunities to meet people and grow spiritually in the program.
South Campus - Sundays at South Campus have much the same feel as the McNeil Campus-- just as open, just as comfortable, just as funky-- just slightly more mobile. When you walk in, you’ll be greeted by friendly volunteers who can answer any questions you have and point you towards the coffee.
If you’ve got kids, you can follow the signs to the check in desk. Once checked in, you’ll drop your kids off in classrooms that are transformed every Sunday into exciting adventure zones where kids can have fun and be themselves. Each Sunday offers an engaging mix of energetic storytelling, awesome crafts, games and music… your kids will be dragging you back for more!
Next, head on in to the auditorium. Check out the program you’re handed to see what’s coming up and find ways to get plugged in. Sit back (or stand up, if you’d prefer), and enjoy our great live music, drama and videos, and relevant message.
Dress Code?
There is none. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Don’t worry, we won’t tell your mom that you wore jeans and a t-shirt to church.
